Tips On Losing Weight

This is an article from Cosmopolitan

This does work I have been doing it for 4 days so far and have lost a pound a day.

Drink Mainly Water

A sports or energy drink, fruit smoothie, or light beer — each serving contains about 100 calories. Yet these beverages don't satisfy you the way 100 calories of food does, so they're a waste. Other liquids may be high in sodium and carbohydrates, which trick your body into retaining water, puffing you out.
Water, on the other hand, has zero calories and carbs and little to no sodium, making it the perfect slim-down drink. And strangely, it actually helps flush out excess water weight as well as jump-starts your metabolism. If it's just too boring, add lemon wedges or mint leaves.

Ban White Bread and Pasta

Cutting out all white grain products — such as white rice, spaghetti, sandwich rolls — will instantly slim you down because the simple carbs in these foods cause bloating, especially around your belly. "Simple carbohydrates wreak havoc on your weight because they're digested very quickly, leaving you hungry and more likely to overeat later," says Jana Klauer, MD, author of The Park Avenue Nutritionist's Plan.
To go a step further, instead of replacing them with healthier yet still bloat-triggering whole-grain bread products, substitute vegetables for the week. This way, a chicken sandwich becomes chicken salad, and chips and dip turn into carrots and dip. The complex carbs from vegetables are digested more slowly, so you remain full longer. And because veggies are mostly water, they also help flush out excess water weight.

Do Cardio 30 Minutes a Day

Any workout that gets your heart rate up will burn calories. But you'll use more calories if you pick a cardio routine that engages multiple muscles simultaneously, says Wendy Larkin, personal-training manager at Crunch's Polk Street gym, in San Francisco.

Three to consider: spinning, cardio kickboxing, and boot-camp workouts. Half an hour of each torches 200 to 300 calories while toning up your arms, legs, and core so everything appears sleeker and tighter.

You'll burn even more calories per session if your workout incorporates interval training: alternating short bursts of intense cardio with slower activity. Experts aren't sure why it works, but trainers swear by it.

Drink Coffee an Hour Before Working Out

This is the one exception to the stick-to-water-only rule: Just as a coffee run makes your morning at work more productive, a pre-exercise cup of java with a splash of skim milk (about 11 calories) or black (just 5 calories) will energize your workout, explains Dr. Klauer. "You'll burn more calories without realizing you're pushing yourself harder."

Have Nightly You-on-Top Sex

Not that you needed an excuse to hook up with your guy every night, but the fact is, this position is a fat blaster. Being on top means you do the rocking, and the more active you are, the more calories you burn — up to 144 for 30 minutes.
Sex also pumps levels of feel-good neurotransmitters, endorphins, helping you ride out food cravings. Get on top in reverse-cowgirl (i.e., facing away from your guy) to give your thigh and butt muscles an extra push.

Do 36 Push-Ups and Lunges Every Other Day

These gym-class staples will help sculpt muscle, so you'll sport a more streamlined appearance. Do three sets of 12 of each exercise every other day. "Push-ups target your upper body, while lunges work your butt, hips, and thighs," says Larkin. Quick tip: Make sure your back and legs remain in a straight line during your push-ups; it'll improve muscle tone. Also, you can build even more muscle with the lunges if you hold free weights in each hand while doing them.

Sleep 30 Minutes More a Night

That extra half an hour, whether you sleep 5 hours or 8, can refresh you enough that you will make better food choices (in other words, no quick sugar fix for breakfast in search of energy) and won't feel lethargic and skip the gym, says registered dietician Esther Blum, author of Eat, Drink, and Be Gorgeous. More restful sleep (7 to 8 hours is best) also boosts your metabolism. And since your body builds muscle while you snooze, getting zzz's equals better muscle tone.

Fresh Start

Hello all, it has been almost ten months since I've gotten on here!! I've been real lazy!!
I haven't done anything in the last ten months except maybe some treadmill and Jillian Michaels.  This is my summer break and I have just gotten back from our Vegas Vacation which was Awesome.

This summer I have put on about ten pounds which was not hard to do between going out to eat, playing on the computer and going on vacation.  So again I'm making a fresh start

On August 1, I decided to eat as clean as I could which will include less meat and less carbs.  I will also be doing some kind of workout every day.  Work outs I've done include the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 1, the treadmill and some walking or running in the evening.

My meals have included oatmeal or eggs for breakfast, salads for lunch and a small portion meat and vegetables for dinner.  Of course I can't forget my shakeology some time during the day!!

I think I just got burnt out on P90X.  I may come back to it some day or do some other form of Beachbody workout but for now it's Jillian Michaels which is only 30 minutes a day.

P90X Lean Program Done

P90X Lean Program Done!!!

I can finally say I have finished the Lean Program!!!  Last night I did my Cardio X and today I did Yoga X.  Tomorrow is rest day and the Last day of this program!!!!  Whoohoo!!!

I have definitely noticed a change in how I feel and how much more I am able to do.  In the beginning of these workouts I could barely do the exercises and now I can do them all with ease.

I have noticed a difference in the way my clothes fit especially in the mid section.  My measurements are basically the same as the October 16th post. I just needed to finish the program.

I now will continue on and go into the Classic Version of P90X which I know will be more work.  This Classic Version includes Plyometrics which is definitely harder than the Cardio X workout.

Like I’ve said before this is a “Lifestyle Change” for me so, I will continue to press play.
I may miss a day here or there but I’ll just continue on where I left off.

A lot of people start P90X and say it’s too hard or miss days and quit.  You’d be amazed what our bodies can do over time with persistence.  Anything is possible.

Have a Wonderful Sunday!!

P90X day 88

Well I’ve definitely be slacking near the end here.  I’ve been spending a lot of time with friends and family and by the time the day is over and I’ve been too tired to work out.  But I haven’t quit I just missed a couple days.

We went to the Texas State Fair on Thursday and had friends over for dinner on Friday night.  As crazy as it sounds I hit play at 10:30 Friday night and did my Kenpo X.  I didn’t have to work today so, right after the Kenpo I did the Stretch X workout.  I went to bed feeling great and glad I got those workouts in.

Tonight I will be doing Cardio X and some time tomorrow will be my Last Yoga X for the Lean Program.  So Tomorrow I will be done with my 90 day, P90X Lean Program, Journey!!!! Whoohoo!!!

I plan on moving right into the Classic Version which will be harder.  I am glad I did the Lean Version first to prepare me for the Classic.

I can’t say my diet has been great.  So I’m going to work harder on that during these 90 days.  I’m not trying to lose a whole lot of weight.  I’m just want to tone and I know clean eating has a lot to do with that.

I have become a Coach so if anyone is interested in shakeology, working out or just needing incentive you can email me at andersons7777@yahoo.com.

P90X five more days

Yoga and Core Synergistics done!!! I did my Yoga X last night and Core tonight.  I am so anxious to start this next version of P90X, which is the Classic Version.  I miss the Leg and back workout which I haven’t done in six weeks.  The  Kenpo, Cardio and Yoga do work the legs. But I don’t know why they took this workout out of the lean program so early.

In Five days I can say "I have finished the P90X Lean Program with weight and inches lost!!” Then I’m moving On to the Classic Version with Plyometrics.  I also plan on upping my weight on the arm, chest & back workouts.  I’m going to push it this time.  So by summer I’ll be ready for my next Cruise!!

Now I’m off to watch biggest loser!! I love that show!! Then, X factor.

P90X one week left

I’m on day 83 of this Journey with only one week left!!  I almost quit the Lean Version and went straight into Classic.  But after some thought and advice from my coach I decided to finish it out.  Then I could say I did the 90 days J

My reason for starting P90X is because I love cruises. We went on a Caribbean cruise last year and I felt fat and out of shape. I wanted to tone and feel healthy again.

In doing this P90X lean program I have seen so much improvement and feel better than I have felt in a long time. My body can do things that I never felt were possible. In the beginning I wasn’t able to do most of the workouts. But day by day, week by week, month by month I was able to do more and more. I can do them all now!!! So I am ready to move onto the Classic Version.

I must also add that I am a 55 year old grandma and with the will and determination anything is possible. A lot of people say P90X is hard and it is in the beginning but with hard work and determination it can be done!

I love P90X it has become a lifestyle change for me. I also love my daily Shakeology. This has been a great addition to my daily diet. I continue to try and eat clean and have my Chocolate Shakeology daily!

Here are my measurements from the beginning. It has been an awesome Journey!!

July 2011 --- October 2011

Hip 39 --- Hip 37.5

Waist 37 --- Waist

Bust 38 --- Bust 37

Upper Leg 22.5 --- Upper Leg 21.5

Through this wonderful experience I have chose to become a Beachbody Coach. If you have any questions you may send me a private message at andersons7777@yahoo.com.

P90X Journey one more week!!!

Well here it is Saturday.  I have slacked some this week but I still got all my workouts in.  I did my Yoga X on Wednesday and then Core Synergistics on Thursday.  Today I will be doing Kenpo X.

Next week will be my Recovery Phase.  Then I’m done!!! I can say I have finished P90X Lean!!! Yea Me!!!

I know I have lost weight and inches.  I have toned a little.  I feel the classic version will do more on gaining muscle and toning which I plan on starting next.

Like I said before this is a lifestyle change.  I’m not perfect, I may miss some days, I may not eat clean all the time but I know its working and I will continue on this Journey.  Thanks to all who have followed me and encouraged me.  It has helped me to continue!!!

I’m off to LegoLand in Grapevine TX with my son and grandson on this beautiful day!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

P90X day 80

Yesterday I did Back, Biceps with Ab Ripper X. I used the band instead of the pull up bar in this workout. That seems to work best for me since I can’t do one pull up without using the chair.
I used the 10lb weights on the majority of the weighted exercises, but on a few I used 8lbs, with the exception of the seated shoulder flys I am still only using 5lbs for that one.

Ab Ripper X was a great workout. I can do all eleven moves, twenty five reps, making it a total of 339 moves.

I ate pretty clean yesterday. For breakfast I had my shakeology with peanut butter, lunch was salad and chicken. Then for dinner I had my favorite bean burritos.

Today is Yoga X.  As of today I have ten more days. Then I will have completed my Lean Version of P90X.

Have a Great Week!!

P90X day 78 & 79 done!

Friday I did my Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, Ab Ripper X workout.  Although the pushups in this workout have gotten easier and I am able to do more I still dislike it very much.  That could be why my arms are not as defined as they should be.  I think I give up to soon.

The Ab Ripper X  workout is great I am able to do all the moves without modifying and I know it’s working.

Today I did Cardio X.  This is a great Cardio workout and only 45 minutes long.  I was able to work up a great sweat and had a feeling of accomplishment.

I am sticking with the program to the end but I just don’t understand why they don’t have the legs & back workout for the last six weeks of the Lean Program.   I miss it and can feel the difference in my legs.  I’m anxious to start the Classic Program in 1 ½ weeks. J

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
