I started my 21 Day Fix program yesterday! The first workout is Cardio Fix and boy is that a great workout. It is only 30 minutes long and guaranteed to make you sweat. With this being my first workout in a while (because of the holidays) I did modify some of the exercises. They have a wonderful easy to follow modifier. I just love this program.
I also had my portion control meals and which kept me satisfied through out the day! I also had about 53 ounces of water.
I'm Baaaaack!!! Yes, it has been a long time. Last year seemed to have flown by. I hope everyone had a wonderful, happy, healthy, successful 2014.
I have continued on with my workout programs/coaching. I finished the Beachbody 21 Day Fix and went on to do Tony Horton's P90. I enjoyed both these programs although the 21 Day Fix ranks up there as one of my favorites.
We went on another cruise this past summer to Jamaica, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman islands. We had a wonderful time and must say I felt more comfortable in my own skin than I have in a long time. I am not perfect and will never look like those models you see in the magazines but as a 58 year old mother/grandmother I continue work on being healthy and fit.
We will be starting another 21 Day Fix group on January 5th and I plan on sharing my daily meals and workout with you all. I know back in 2011 when I shared my daily workout with P90X it kept me consistent and accountable. If anyone would like to join me you can contact me here or on FB https://www.facebook.com/sharon.feroneanderson. I also have my own free, private accountability group on fb called Food Fitness Focus where we share our workouts, recipes and give each of daily incentive to achieve our own personal goals.
Here we are starting our third week of February. The weather in Texas has finally gotten nice. I think it will be in the 70's today!! :) My husband and I went hiking at a local community center yesterday and it felt so good to be out in the beautiful sunshine.
In my last post I had mentioned that I would be starting my "21 Day Fix" when I finished my six weeks of "Slim in 6". Well, because of the overwhelming response to this program they have had a backup in orders. I should be receiving my "21 Day Fix" by March 1st and I plan on starting a "Fix" accountability group then. If you're interested in joining me contact me Sharon Ferone Anderson on fb or Twitter.
Slim in 6 "Burn It Up" is still a challenge to me!! I am working up a great sweat and feeling the pain! I am still losing weight and inches. Currently I have lost a total of 8 pounds and 5 inches since January 1st. Being a 57 year old mother/mimi I am not physically or mentally perfect. I have my imperfections and flaws but I cannot emphasize how much better I feel since the first of the year! With me working out 5/6 times a week, eating right, (which includes my morning shakeology), and getting 6/7 hours sleep a night, I am mentally and physically stronger.
I am also thankful for my online Food, Focus, Fitness group! This group has done so much to keep me accountable. We are working hard to achieve our goals by checking in daily with our food, water intake, and workouts which also helps to keep us all motivated.
My groups are fun, free and inspirational. There is no pressure or judgement. Contact me if you are interested in improving you health and fitness.
Food, Focus, Fitness Burrr, It's still cold here in TX!! I'm ready for summer. Then again don't bring out the swimsuits just yet! I'll be ready in a few months :) As I said in my last post this is my year!! I am currently in my last couple weeks of Beachbody's Slim in 6. So far so good!! I have been consistent with my workouts, eating, and water intake. As of today I have lost 6 lbs. and 5 total inches. I am Excited!! I am still a member of my original Facebook accountability group but, have also branched out on my own. My group is called "Food, Fitness, Focus. Like my original group we have daily tasks and daily check-ins with our accountability. When I complete my Slim in 6 I will be starting a "21 Day Fix" group which is a fitness and nutrition program that helps you lose 6-15 pounds in 21 days. Each workout is about 30 minutes a day seven days a week. The nutrition plan uses portioned food storage containers. There's no weighing, measuring or calorie counting. The best part is there is no food that is off limits. I'm ready for my next challenge!!! Let me know if you'd like to join me! Have a great week!!
Well here we almost at the end of January 2014. Has everyone kept up with their New Years Resolutions? I am proud to say that I have!!! I have been eating right, drinking right and working out. This is my year!!
Today will be day 21 of my Slim in 6, Beachbody workout. With my consistency and accountability I have lost 5 lbs. and a total of 4 inches since the first of the year. Also, my legs and arms are getting toner. I am so proud of myself!!
I have been a part of an online accountability group where we check in daily on how we did with our diet and exercise. I can't emphasize how much being a part of a accountability group helps. It's is fun being with others who have the same commitment and goals not to mention meeting new friends.
February 1st, I will be starting my own accountability group, This is an online group where people wanting to achieve their health and fitness goals get together and share. It is a private group. There will be simple tasks given daily and you will check in with your workouts, water intake, and diet for the day. There is also a prize given at the end of each month.
If you're interested in joining my group let me know I would love to have you!
My Journey for this year has continued in a good way!! I have been consistent with my Slim in 6 workouts and it has gotten easier.
This program consists of three DVDs. The first dvd is "Start It Up" a 30 minute moderate intense workout. For this first week Debbie Siebers introduces the strength and cardio moves. You continue to "Ramp It Up" a 45 minute workout for the second and third weeks, and then "Burn It Up" a 60 minute workout for the last three weeks. This program uses resistant bands and dumbbells for the strength training and targets your arms, hips, thighs, and abs.
I am currently in the second phase the "Ramp It Up" dvd and in only fifteen days I have lost three pounds and a total of three inches. My main reason for this workout is to tone and I am already noticing some toning and difference in the way my clothes are fitting.
Tonight I start the last phase which is "Burn It Up". I know this is going to be harder, but I am looking forward to the Challenge.
My goal is to finish this program then move on to P90X, continue to drink 60/70 oz of water daily and eat clean.
This is a lifestyle change for me!
If you'd like to join me with my workout I would be glad to have you!!
This is the year!!! If you have read my blog I am a 57 year old mother of four boys and a ten year old grandson. I have been married for 33 years and love my husband dearly. I have been fairly healthy most my life but since I retired a year ago my weight has exceeded my desires. Being 20lbs over the average weight for my height has made me feel lazy, tired, fat, undesireable, embarrassed, and totally blah!!! I basically go day to day and don't have the desire or energy to do anything. I have continued to do Slim in 6 but with the holidays the last few months I have slacked. Starting January 1st I began my new journey. Thanks to my coach Casey Beard and our group I have been checking in daily with my challenge group, eating clean, drinking my shakeology, working out with Slim in 6, and drinking 1/2 my body weight in oz of water daily. My goal is to be down at least 10lbs by July and hopefully be toned enough to get into a swimsuit without being embarrassed!! It starts today!!! If anyone cares to join me or our group let me know. There are no fees and no pressure!!
Wow, I can't believe it has been over a year since I have blogged!! My Journey to Health and Fitness continues in some form or another. I try to be consistent on working out and eating right. I continue to tell myself "I will not go on cholesterol or blood pressure meds. I will stay healthy the natural way".
Currently I am doing Slim In 6 with Beachbody and love it. Debbie Siebers coaches/instructs in 3 easy to follow workouts. The first one is Start It Up. This is about a 30 minute moderate intense workout. The next one is Ramp it Up which is about a 45 minute workout and more intense. It targets your arms, hips, thighs, abs. I never thought I would be able to do this but totally agree with Debbie Siebers! With consistency it gets easier every day. The final dvd is Burn it Up which is about an hour. This a more rigorous workout including some cardio and more focus on thighs and abs.
Last night was my first Burn it Up workout. I must admit it was hard but I believe with consistency I will master this one also. Please note that I am a 56 year old grandmother. If I can do this anyone can.
Hope you all are looking forward to this wonderful cool, Fall, weather. I know I am.
This does work I have been
doing it for 4 days so far and have lost a pound a day.
Drink Mainly Water
A sports or energy drink, fruit smoothie, or light beer — each
serving contains about 100 calories. Yet these beverages don't satisfy you the
way 100 calories of food does, so they're a waste. Other liquids may be high in
sodium and carbohydrates, which trick your body into retaining water, puffing
Water, on the other hand, has zero calories and carbs
and little to no sodium, making it the perfect slim-down drink. And strangely,
it actually helps flush out excess water weight as well as jump-starts your
metabolism. If it's just too boring, add lemon wedges or mint leaves.
Ban White Bread and
Cutting out all white grain products — such as white rice,
spaghetti, sandwich rolls — will instantly slim you down because the simple
carbs in these foods cause bloating, especially around your belly. "Simple
carbohydrates wreak havoc on your weight because they're digested very quickly,
leaving you hungry and more likely to overeat later," says Jana Klauer,
MD, author of The Park Avenue Nutritionist's Plan.
To go a step further, instead of replacing them with healthier yet
still bloat-triggering whole-grain bread products, substitute vegetables for
the week. This way, a chicken sandwich becomes chicken salad, and chips and dip
turn into carrots and dip. The complex carbs from vegetables are digested more
slowly, so you remain full longer. And because veggies are mostly water, they
also help flush out excess water weight. Do
Cardio 30 Minutes a Day
Any workout that gets your heart rate up will burn calories. But
you'll use more calories if you pick a cardio routine that engages multiple
muscles simultaneously, says Wendy Larkin, personal-training manager at
Crunch's Polk Street gym, in San Francisco.
Three to consider: spinning, cardio kickboxing, and boot-camp
workouts. Half an hour of each torches 200 to 300 calories while toning up your
arms, legs, and core so everything appears sleeker and tighter.
You'll burn even more calories per session if your workout
incorporates interval training: alternating short bursts of intense cardio with
slower activity. Experts aren't sure why it works, but trainers swear by it.
This is the one exception to the stick-to-water-only rule: Just as
a coffee run makes your morning at work more productive, a pre-exercise cup of
java with a splash of skim milk (about 11 calories) or black (just 5 calories)
will energize your workout, explains Dr. Klauer. "You'll burn more
calories without realizing you're pushing yourself harder."
Nightly You-on-Top Sex
Not that you needed an excuse to hook up with your guy every
night, but the fact is, this position is a fat blaster. Being on top means you
do the rocking, and the more active you are, the more calories you burn — up to
144 for 30 minutes.
Sex also pumps levels of feel-good neurotransmitters, endorphins,
helping you ride out food cravings. Get on top in reverse-cowgirl (i.e., facing
away from your guy) to give your thigh and butt muscles an extra push.
Do 36 Push-Ups and Lunges Every Other Day
These gym-class staples will help sculpt muscle, so you'll sport a
more streamlined appearance. Do three sets of 12 of each exercise every other
day. "Push-ups target your upper body, while lunges work your butt, hips,
and thighs," says Larkin. Quick tip: Make sure your back and legs remain
in a straight line during your push-ups; it'll improve muscle tone. Also, you
can build even more muscle with the lunges if you hold free weights in each
hand while doing them.
Sleep 30 Minutes More a Night
That extra half an hour, whether you sleep 5 hours or 8, can
refresh you enough that you will make better food choices (in other words, no
quick sugar fix for breakfast in search of energy) and won't feel lethargic and
skip the gym, says registered dietician Esther Blum, author of Eat, Drink, and
Be Gorgeous. More restful sleep (7 to 8 hours is best) also boosts your
metabolism. And since your body builds muscle while you snooze, getting zzz's
equals better muscle tone.
